...

Meghalaya is renowned for its unique culture and traditions, as well as its intricate bamboo and cane products, weaving, and wood carving. The people of Meghalaya - which consists of three ancient
hill communities including the Garos, Khasis, and Jaintias - have a special skill for crafting traditional bamboo and cane products. In fact, most tribes are engaged in different types of handicraft
making, with bamboo and cane product creation being a popular choice.

The art and craft of Meghalaya is unlike any other place in the world. The intricate designs and beautiful colors leave tourists mesmerized when they visit this northeastern part of India. The abundant
bamboo in the area makes it possible for artists to create bamboo and cane products. The three tribes of Meghalaya - the Garos, Khasis, and Jaintias - are skilled in making different types of cane
and bamboo products as well as weaving. These products have now received recognition not only in the national market but also in the international market.

The tribal people of Meghalaya make a living by crafting cane and bamboo products like household items, furniture, accessories, and musical instruments. These items are not only aesthetically pleasing
but they are also functional.

The Khasis and the Garos are hill tribes located in the northeastern Indian state of Meghalaya and are known for their intricate craftsmanship when it comes to working with cane and bamboo. Some of the
more popular items made from these materials include baskets, mats, hats, headgear, trays, fans, combs, pipes, chairs, utensils, knives, and umbrellas. The Garo hills are especially famous for their
"Meghum Khoks" baskets, while the Khasi people have a deep affinity for all types of baskets - so much so that they're considered experts at weaving them. Other notable baskets made by the Khasis
include the pig basket, fruit basket, Shallo basket (a type of fishing basket), small storage baskets, and coiled cane containers.
